Ambassador · Leh, Ladakh
I was born in a small village near Hemis Monastery, at 11,500 feet above sea level. At that altitude, you learn early that the mountains demand respect — and reward patience.
I spent my early years studying at the monastery before pursuing a degree in tourism management. But Ladakh isn’t something you learn from books. It’s the way the light changes on Pangong Lake, the sound of prayer flags in a mountain pass, the taste of butter tea on a cold morning.
As an Ambassador, I help travelers understand that Ladakh isn’t just a destination — it’s a different way of seeing the world. The monasteries, the high passes, the stark beauty of the landscape — it all teaches you to slow down and pay attention.
The three experiences Tenzin loves sharing most.
The monastery where I learned to read opens its doors before the tourists arrive. At dawn, with the monks chanting, it’s transcendent.
Forget the daytime photos. I’ll drive you to a spot on the lake where the Milky Way reflects on the water. Bring a blanket.
Khardung La at 18,380 feet. I’ll make sure you’re acclimatized, I’ll bring the thermos, and I’ll tell you the stories the mountains tell.
